Presentation of Fire_cci results at EGU2019

Presentation focus was the use of Sentinel sensors for land monitoring

During the EGU2019 congress, held in Vienna (Austria), some of the results of the Fire_cci project were presented at the ESA booth.

The focus of the presentation was the use of Sentinel sensors for land monitoring. During the presentation, the results of the FireCCISFD11 burned area dataset, based on Sentinel-2 data, were shown. The speaker emphasised the increase in burned area mapped in Africa compared to previously existing datasets, and the effect of these findings on emissions estimation. We thank Benjamin Koetz for disseminating the work done in the Fire_cci project.
